an homage to US Weekly...

It's no news that DSquared's show would generate talk - the Caten twins love theatrics after all. But their F/W 09 show was truly one of the most entertaining shows this season so far, at least in my opinion. There's no crazy stage set-up, nor were the clothes extraordinarily whimsical; the high entertainment value came from the simple props in the models' hands and the celebrity-off-duty-look styling. Models strutted down the catwalk with Vente Starbucks in their hands and tabloid magazines in their totes. Most of them were accessorized with slouchy knit hats and oversized shades. Sounds vaguely familiar? Go to any celebrity gossip website and dig up paparazzi pictures of the Olsen twins and you may see why.
The collection is all about street style - a true mix and match of high/ low fashion. It's exactly what the edgy girls you see on the Satorialist or any other personal style sites would be wearing (probably without the coffee prop though). I wonder if that was actually a product placement by Starbucks...
